Cheat Detection

Ezra analyzes response patterns to detect signals that may be consistent with scripted answers or external assistance during the interview.

info

This feature is labeled Fraud Detection in Interview Settings and Cheat Detection in the evaluation view. They refer to the same feature.

This is a decision-support tool

Cheat detection findings are surfaced for your review only. They do not affect the candidate's overall score and do not result in any automated action. All hiring decisions remain with the recruiting team.

What Ezra looks for

Ezra analyzes patterns across the interview — including response structure, timing, pacing, and consistency — to identify signals that may suggest:

  • Answers that sound scripted or unusually structured compared to natural conversation
  • Responses that seem inconsistent with the candidate's broader interview behavior
  • Patterns associated with reading from a prepared text

How findings are surfaced

If signals are detected, they appear in the Cheat Detection tab of the candidate's evaluation. Each flag includes:

  • A description of the signal observed
  • A confidence level
  • The specific moment(s) in the interview where it was detected (with timestamps)

How to use this information

Treat cheat detection findings as one input among many. A flag does not confirm misconduct — it's a prompt to look more closely at that part of the interview. You might:

  • Review the transcript and recording at the flagged timestamps
  • Ask follow-up questions in the next round
  • Consider context (e.g., some candidates naturally speak in a structured, prepared way)

Enabling cheat detection

Go to Train EzraInterview Settings → toggle on Fraud Detection.

If the toggle is grayed out, it may be disabled at the company admin level. Contact your admin or reach out to support@ezraailabs.tech.
