Interview Questions
Interview questions are the core of Ezra's structured interview. Every candidate is asked the same questions in the same order, with Ezra asking intelligent follow-ups based on what each candidate says.

Adding questions
You can add questions manually or have Ezra generate them for you.

Best practices
Ezra performs best with open-ended, discussion-based questions that explore a candidate's experience, skills, and decision-making. Avoid yes/no or administrative questions (e.g., "Do you have a valid driver's license?") — those are better suited for application forms.
- 3–5 questions is the sweet spot. Based on candidate feedback, this is the ideal length for a thorough yet manageable interview. Ezra can handle more if needed.
- Questions should encourage candidates to tell a story or walk through a specific example.

Ideal answers (rubric)
Set the scoring rubric for each question. This defines how Ezra will evaluate candidate responses:
| Score | Label | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 4/4 | Great answer | Response closely matches your ideal answer |
| 3/4 | Good answer | Response is solid but misses some key elements |
| 2/4 | OK answer | Response is acceptable but lacks depth |
| 1/4 | Poor answer | Response does not meet expectations |
Click Generate rubric to have Ezra draft a rubric based on your question and the job description. You can then edit it to match your specific expectations.
What to listen for
This field guides Ezra's follow-up questions. Tell Ezra what you really want to understand when asking this question.
Example:
Question: "Can you describe a time you led a team to deploy an AI/ML solution in production?"
What to listen for: "Whether the candidate has experience in early-stage healthcare companies"
Ezra will steer its follow-ups toward surfacing that specific information.
Importance
Weight each question based on its importance to the role, from 1 (not important) to 5 (very important). This weighting affects the candidate's overall score.
Reordering questions
Drag and drop questions to reorder them. Ezra asks questions in the order shown.
